I’ve been away a while. What can I say, life really gets in the way sometimes. Having said that, I am back and I’m back with a great start! Last week I stopped into a new local take out joint, called “Dave’s Place”. They are located in Turneytown Plaza in Garfield Heights (former location of Paco’s). I didn’t even plan on going in, but one of my students told me I didn’t have a choice – it was that good. Bar set pretty high, right? I’m holding back my final judgement for after I have a change to eat there more, but Dave is off to a great start.
I decided to get their ultimate baked potato. Menu listed it as a baked potato with Beef, Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes and Cheese topping. Being the antithesis cheese, I of course asked to have that left off. At just under 10.00, I thought it had better be a really good potato for that much money. Little did I know there was more than just a potato and meat. Pics below, but what you don’t see in them is the 2 potatoes under all that meat and veggies. It was seasoned superbly, tasted great, well sized portion. All in all, it’s well worth the 10.00.
If you follow my writing, you know that food is just the start of my experience and opinion. Service is another big thing for me and Dave hit it out of the park. Dave is the cook, which is good news giving the name of the place. He was very friendly, excited to cook and has passion for his quality and the happiness of his customers.
This is the first place that I told them ahead of time that I write reviews. I did wait until the end of my experience there, so the friendliness, portion and quality was genuine.
Summary: I’m happy and will be going back. I’ll probably get the ribs next time.
