Amazon slams Google book deal – Sacramento Business Journal:
I can understand why NYLA (New York Library Association) and ASJA (American Society of Journalists and Authors) are against the idea of Google giving away / selling out of print books on their website and the courts should give them a fair ear. Amazon, Yahoo and Microsoft, however, are only complaining because they don’t like competition in the world. If Google gets into the eBook market, it will be more work for Amazon and the like. Personally, I am against the Google deal – that’s what public libraries are for, but I also don’t think the courts should hear anything presented by these large corporations (Amazon mostly) as it’s just their way to curb potential competition.
