Just another day in Basketball

This post is in reference to a Yahoo Sports article featured here.

Towards the end of overtime; with the Heat down by two points, the Heats final chance to tie the game went out the window when LeBron settled for a long three point shot. It was surprising to see LeBron take the shot, since there was still time on the clock for a much safer play.

Yet again, the game is on the line, there’s time left on the clock and good ol’ LBJ stands there with the ball, letting the clock wind down. When he feels the time is right, he takes his career 33.1% (at time of this posting) success rate 3 point shot and as many would expect, fails again.

LeBron, if you read this, which I know chances are about 99.9999999% that you won’t, I have one thing to say to you. It’s true that the Cavs were contenders while you were here. It’s true that they suck now. The reason Cleveland never got a ring under your tenure is because you are a ball hogging ego driven man who thinks he is God’s gift to Basketball. The truth of the matter is that while there is no doubt you are one of the best (not THE best, but certainly in the group) players to grace the court, you will never succeed until you begin to realize that you are not the only player on the team and when it comes down to the line, it’s not your responsibility to make that game winning shot. It’s your responsibility to make the right “DECISION” and take the shot or pass to a teammate (yes, you have teammates) who is in a better position to come through. Everyone knows you want the highlight reel on ESPN showing LeBron James making the game saving shot, but wouldn’t you rather see the highlight reel where LeBron AND TEAM win the NBA Championship?

While the Cavs may have a horrible record, and can’t seem to get it together, they are still a better team without you. They play with more heart and more passion than they ever did with your lazy ass around. So, here’s to you, Mr. James. The best and worst thing to ever grace the city of Cleveland. I don’t miss you, the town doesn’t miss you. In fact, many are glad you are gone. Cleveland will have their day in the spotlight and it will be a proud moment being there without you. And at the rate you are going, we’ll be there before you as well.
